The TTC is one of the safest transit systems in the world. There are a number of safety related initiatives in place to ensure passenger safety. Some of these programs and features include:

  • Toronto Crime Stoppers
  • Transit Enforcement Unit
  • Public Telephones
  • Designated Waiting Areas
  • Intercoms
  • Passenger Assistance Alarms

Students should know something about the operations and safety resources available for each of the types of service available including the bus, streetcar, or subway.  Transit impacts everyone whether you utilize the service or not so it is important that students understand how the system operates and how to travel the system safely.  For new riders please review our ‘Preparing Your Child for Using Public Transit Safely’ brochure.  We’ve also included a link in our ‘Ask the Expects’ section for more specific safety related transit information.
