Did you know that it is illegal to ride an e-scooter in Ontario if you are under the age of 16. When considering how to get to and from school please know that e-scooters are not allowed on city of Toronto streets https://www.toronto.ca/services-payments/streets-parking-transportation/transportation-projects/micromobility/electric-bicycles-e-bikes-e-scooters/ .
Data from sick kids https://www.aboutkidshealth.ca/healthaz/prevention/e-bicycles-e-scooters-and-other-electronic-recreational-devices-safety/?hub=injuryprev&hubSite=https://www.aboutkidshealth.ca/#/ shows students are at significant risk of injury when using those modes of transportation. We encourage our families to find active and safe modes of travel to and from school, but e-scooters do not fit the bill. All schools should have bike racks available to allow students to ride and store their bike at the school in a safe and secured manner.
“One way to find out if you are old is to fall down in front of a lot of people. If they laugh, you’re still young. If they panic and start running to you, you’re old.” – Unknown
